A happy new year to all of you. Sending you incredible power, commitment and resilience with a truckload of softness, you might be asking!! “dude, we haven’t heard from you in so I can confirm I did not…. Like everyone else, while trying to eat more vegetables and read more books. I ashamedly only managed 5 books, and I ate more potatoes than I had planned. More on that later.
BUT ANYWAYS….
I’ve been busy working on our third film, Hatukufi Bado, to be released this year. The film follows two girls, Shinde and Joy, who go out to their first protest. This film was inspired by and dedicated to all young and old Kenyans, past and present, who have been bravely fighting for their freedoms and voice in the face of an evil regime. Kenya will be free.

That’s taken a lot of my time this past year. But grateful to be able to make this film. Can’t wait to see it. The people working on this film are some of the best creative brains from this continent. Continent sounds like we have Ghanaians on this film, but it’s all dope Kenyans really.. fueled by chapatis…and they are still some of the best creative brains on this continent.
WHILE THAT WAS HAPPENING
I got into a month-long screenwriting residency, which kicked my butt so hard. I cried, I had nights of feeling very unworthy and scared and just plain ol stupid sometimes. I was kicking it with 10 incredibly talented screenwriters who were all so deserving.
But then……
I actually made it!! I got a grant to develop something that some of you might know of. This little comic over here.
Anyway, all this to say I was pleasantly surprised on the reals. Shocked would be a huge understatement. All that to say I’ll be diving into development this coming few months to create “My girlfriend Wanjiru is a vampire into an animated show, woooohoooo!!

This year
Well, first of all …let me plug my incredibly cool calendar, which you can find in my little corner at the cute lava latte(State House Road)
This calendar is a compilation of 12 illustrations that span my travels and thoughts from last year. It comes in a cool wooden stand, and it’s something that really stands out(I have to say that, but it’s really true. If you ordered one already last year, it’s only 1000ksh- for a new purchase that comes together with the stand-2000ksh only. Here is how the calendar looks.

Hoping to continue cool adventures through drawing through “ Nairobi Sketch Tour” (@nairobisketchtour on Instagram). We are planning our first tour outside Nairobi, where we will spend time for about three days just exploring and drawing. So incredibly excited about that as well
